Prairie Phlox (Phlox pilosa)

Prairie Phlox, also called Sweet William and Downy Phlox blooms from March through May.
It can be found in large colonies along roadsides or just scattered along back roads and fields. It is a very hardy plant and will do well in your garden. Colors vary from very pale to deep rose-lavender according to soil content. Even though it is named Prairie Phlox it is not found on open prairies.

There are other types of wild phlox that are multi-colored and a bright red named after its founder, Thomas Drummond. All are very beautiful.

"I will praise thee, O LORD my GOD, with all my heart: and I will glorify THY name for evermore."
Psalm 86:12
