Carolina Mallow (Modiola caroliniana)
This beautiful little flower is a member of the Mallow family but has very small flowers, 1 1/8", 5 petals and about 12" tall. It is often found in yards and along roadsides. It is a low-creeping perennial. The flowers are reddish-orange having one bloom at top of slender stalks. Blooming period is February through June.
