Yellow Blue-Eyed Grass ( Sisyrinchium exile)

This tiny little flower is a member of the Iris family. Blooming time is April and May with flowers only 1/4" .

Another common name for this wildflower is Fairy Eyes. It is often found in lawns and vacant areas. I don't know why it is named "yellow" because it is white with purple throats, perhaps nutrients in soil cause color to vary. There are several species of Blue-Eyed Grass in Texas, mostly being bright blue. These plants grow in clusters and are grass-like. Yellow Blue-Eyed Grass is native to South America, but often is found from Florida to many parts of Texas.

"For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth to shew HIMSELF strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward HIM...."

II Chronicles 16:9
