Wild Bean

Member of Legume (bean) family
Blooms: May - October
These tiny little vines are very plentiful now as summer comes to an end. They are quite showy and their blooms are so unique looking.
The tiny blooms are about 1/2 inch across and grow on a vine which twines around other plants making a large clump of beautiful little flowers.
The blooms are a light lavender color with the curl in the center being dark purple.
Wild Bean can be found along side of roads ditches and in thickets. They are found almost all throughout the state. The beans of this plant are very small but are a good food source for birds and the Native Americans ate them as well.
Click on picture for a closer look at this unique little flower, just beautiful.

"Brought beds, and basons and earthen vessels and wheat and barley and flour and parched corn and beans
and lentils and parched pulse."
II Samuel 17:28
