It represents our awareness of trees and their importance to our environment.
The first Arbor Day was held on April 10, 1872. It's founder was Julius Sterling Morton (1832 -1902), in Nebraska.
He served as Secretary of Agriculture under President Grover Cleveland.
He began planting orchards and shade trees on his homeplace and began to promote the importance of trees .
Today our trees are being destroyed at an alarming rate due to progress and natural disasters. Do your part today and plant a tree! Every state of the United States now celebrates "Arbor Day".
This beautiful tree is the Catalpa Tree which is posted on the blog . It is covered with beautiful white orchid-like blooms. "Happy Arbor Day!"
And out of the ground made the LORD GOD to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil."
Genesis 2:9
