Flowering Quince

This bush has been around for a long time. My grandmother had them planted everywhere. Usually you see them planted in long rows, making a hedge.
They are said to bloom in April, but here it is 3rd of March and they are in full bloom. They do not have leaves until they completed blooming. They also have sharp thorns. Very showy.
"The way of the slothful man is as an hedge of thorns: but the way of righteousness is made plain."
Proverbs 15:19

I love these & have them planted around the gas tank at the farm. They were just beginning to show buds of color when I was there last. Everytime Lois visited the farm she wanted to make "quince" jelly. (I don't recall my bushes ever having any kind of fruit.???
