This rose is in my garden. It came from Mother's home, which she started there over 45 years ago. She got a cutting from her sister in Mississippi and started this bush. When she moved with us after my Father's death, she brought the rose bush with her. It has been here at our place for 25 years now. A couple of years ago, the deer ate all the leaves and shoots down to the ground. I dug up what was left and put into a pot, a little fertilizer and it came back.
This is one of the old time roses, tea roses. It has a very velvety petal and the most wonderful smell, something that most roses these days don't have. I hope to keep it going for years to come. Another "Family Flower" that has been passed down.
Nothing is quite like a brilliant red rose. Click on picture and notice the dew drops on petals.
