Have a Butterfly Friendly Garden.

If you love butterflies, Lantana is a must for your garden. This year has brough a great abundance of many species of butterflies, some I have not seen before (perhaps they were just passing through). The first one is the Variegated Fritillary and the second, the tiny Gray Hairstreak. Other butterfly friendly flowers are coneflowers, black-eyed susans and several butterfly bushes. Plant them and have many hours of enjoyment as you watch them flutter from flower to flower. Watering time is a great time to watch as they love the water on the ground. Butterflies often will gather and drink water from the soil or animal droppings. This act is called "puddling".
