Member of Nightshade Family
Blooms: March - October
This plant has very prickly stems and often grows in large colonies along roadsides, pastures, old flields that are undisturbed and all throughout Texas.
The fruit of this plant, a berry that is yellow or blackish when ripe was used by Indians in making cheese. The berries were also used to treat sore throat and toothache. Nightshade berries mixed with cream have reportedly been used as a cure for poison ivy. The blooms are very much like that of the White Horse-Nettle. I frequently just travel around looking for other blogs which exist on the Internet, and the various, creative ways in which people express themselves. Thanks for sharing.
