Scarlet Gaura

Member of Evening Primrose Family

Blooms: May - September

This bush grows about 3-4 ft. tall and in large colonies. They like sandy soils, as do most Texas wildflowers. They do not grow in dense woodlands. The bush is covered with thousand of tiny pink and white blooms, 1/2" across.

The blooms of this plant have a delicate fragrance and intense whiteness of the evening-opening flowers attracting numerous species of moths. The common name is Bee Blossom, which refers to it's fragrance and its use by insects and especially bees.

"though your sins be like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.

Isaiah 1:18
