Common Ragweed

Member of Sunflower Family
Blooms: late summer and fall
This plant doesn't actually "bloom", it has long slender pods of tiny bud-like fruits that burst open sending spores into the wind.
Ragweeds prefer dry, sunny grassey places and sandy soils. There are 41 species worldwide. Most people blame the beautiful Goldenrod for their terrible fall allergies, when it is the Ragweed that is the culprit. Click for a closer look at the tiny buds.
