Evening Primrose (Oenothera speciosa)

All the April showers have brought more May wildflowers. The Evening Primrose is found in fields and along roadsides in large quantities. The pink petals are transparent and fade to white in the center.

Other names for this plant are Texas Primrose and Buttercup, buttercup coming from the shape of the flower and the large amount of buttery yellow pollen in its center. May is their peak bloom time, but can be found sporadically blooming in the fall. These will do well in your garden, but need to be planted in the fall.

"Evening, and morning, and noon, will I pray, and cry aloud, and HE shall hear my voice."
Psalm 55:17  KJV
