Goldenrod (Solidago altissima)

Every fall I have to come to the aid of the beautiful goldenrod. Most think that it is the major cause of hayfever and allergies, not true!

The beautiful goldenrod is a member of the Aster family. It is NOT wind pollinated, so not a cause of allergies.
These plants are pollinated by insects.

Native Americans used these flowers for the making of dyes and brewed teas from its roots for digestive problems and other ailments.

The major allergan in fall is the common ragweed, silver croton (doveweed) and snake cotton. So enjoy the beautiful goldenrods and don't avoid them.

"Behold the day, behold it is come: the morning is gone forth, and the rod hath blossomed, pride hath budded."

Ezekiel 7:10
