Dogwood Trees in Fall

Not only is the Eastern Dogwood beautiful in early spring with its white blooms, it also is beautiful again as fall begins.
The leaves of the Dogwood begin to turn dark red in color and the seeds from the flowers form a bright red berry. Wildlife and birds use these as a food source.
The "Legend of the Dogwood" reminds us of the Crucifixion of JESUS CHRIST with its beautiful cross shaped white blooms and each petal having a "scar" shape on its outer edge with red "blood stained" markings. These are to remind of us HIS suffering and death. In fall, the legend reminds us of the drops of blood that HE shed for us that we might be forgiven of our sins and live a joyful and abundant life by the manifestation of these beautiful red berries.
