The White Checkered Butterfly

Whites and Sulphurs are members of a large family of butterflies that are primarily medium-sized, white or yellow and tend to fly in open, sunny areas.
This White Checkered is fairly common in Texas and can be distinguished by it's black, checkered pattern. It is found throughout the United States and even into Canada.
White Checkered caterpillars feed on the seed pods and flowers of plants in the mustard family. It's size ranges from 1 3/4" - 2 1/2" across.
