Member of Pickerelweed Family
Blooms: April - October
This plant grows upright often up to 3 ft. tall and always in water. It is very similar to the Water Hyacinth.
It's blooms are on the end of a long spike standing out of the water. The blooms only last for a day.
Pickerelweed attracts many butterflies and numerous insects for it's pollen and nectar. It is found usually in large colonies.
"Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain: Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters: who maketh the clouds his chariot: who walketh upon the wings of the wind:"
Psalm 104:2-3
