Pencil Flower

Member of Bean Family
Blooms: April - November
This plant is sprawling and has tiny yellow flowers, similiar to a sweet pea bloom, about 3/8" across. It is very pretty and twines around other plants.
It grows in sand soils of woodland openings and edges.
The Pencil Flower is named for the shape of it's fruit pod. It is a major food source of larvae for the Yellow Sulphur Butterfly.
