Wolly-White

Member of Aster Family
Blooms: March - July

This plant is so beautiful and detailed. It is one of the most commonly found of our area wildflowers. It is also called "Wild Cauliflower".

It grows in sandy soils, in old fields, along roadsides, grasslands and woodlands. It grows in large colonies.
It can grow up to 3 ft. tall on a single stem, having a cluster of beautiful white, pink and purple flowers at it's top. Click on the picture and see how detailed and beautiful these little heads are. One stalk can have from 30 to 60 flowers each. As you can see, the Black Swallowtail Butterfly loves this plant. It makes an excellent cut flower for arrangements, but then, we're not supposed to cut wildflowers off of our highways.

"Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool."

Isaiah 1:18
