Eastern Red Cedar

There are many species of Cedars. Here in North East Texas we have the Eastern Red Cedar or Texas Cedar. They can grow 40-50 ft tall and have large trunks. In the fall they are covered with these pretty blue berries. They are a source of food for many types of birds and wildlife.
Red Cedar contains an oil which is also an insect repellent. People line closets, trunks and rooms with cedar for it's pleasant smell and rustic look. It does keep moths and some insects away. Many people are allergic to the oil found the cedar.
"The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty. The voice of the LORD breaketh the cedars of Lebanon."
Psalm 29:4-5
