Mistletoe is the common name for a group of hemi-parasitic plants that grow attached to the branches of trees, mostly hardwoods.
Mistletoe is a poisonous plant that causes acute gastrointestinal problems and low pulse. It does have some medicinal uses though, and has been studied in cancer research. It is also a food source for some wildlife.
In late fall it has waxey white berries. In some places it is harvested for Christmas deocrating. If a tree is too heavily infested with Mistletoe , it will die. If you look closely at the center, you will see a small bird's nest.
