Yellow Wood-Sorrel

Member of Wood-Sorrel Family
Blooms: February - November
This is often found near trees and in thickets. It is very common in East Texas. It grows in any type soil and will even grown in lawns.
The leaves of the Yellow Wood-Sorrel have a tart tast and are high in vitamin C. The sour or tart taste comes from "oxalic" acid crystals in the sap of the plant. Early settlers and Indians would eat these leaves, but shouldnot be eaten in excessive quantities. (I think I will stick to lettuce.)
