Violet Wood-Sorrel

Member of Wood-Sorrel Family
Blooms: March - May
The Violet Wood-Sorrel is similiar to the Yellow Wood-Sorrel that is posted below. It too contains "oxalic" acid crystals in it's leaves. They also have the tart taste. They were eaten by Indians and used for medicinal purposes . Brewed correctly, a mild tea was used for a blood purifier and a cold tea used to stop vomiting.
It is also written if you use too much of the leaves that it could cause violent convulsions due to the oxalic crystals.
