Texas Vervain

Member of Vervain Family
Blooms: February - December
These tiny lavender flowers grow in among other patches of wildflowers.
They can be found in various soils in abandoned areas, fields and hillsides and woodlands.
Since early times, Texas vervain, or "Slender Vervain" has been considered an important flower for medicinal purposes. In the Old World the English Vervain was regarded as a holy herb , particularly by the Druids.
They believed a tea made of the flowers could be used as a powerful charm against witches.
We Texans just think it's a beautiful flower and love to see it scattered in fields of Indian Paintbrush and other wildflowers for a beautiful array of colors.
