Lemon Mint

Member of Mint Family
Blooms: April - October
This plant grows in sandy loams or rocky soils in pastures, prairies and in meadows.
It's color varies to deeper shades of pink and lavender. It has a very fragrant smell, somewhat like the lemon. A tea can be brewed from the dried leaves. The plant contains an oil that Citronellol is obtained, an aromatic susbstance often used in perfumes. The dried crushed leaves also make an insect repellant when rubbed on the body.
