Sheridan's Hairstreak Butterfly

Here is another new one for my garden, the tiny Sheridan's Hairstreak.
Sheridans are only 7/8" - 1 1/8" across their wingspan. They are very active and colorful. This one is enjoying my butterfly bush.

The tops of the wings are a mouse brown with the shades of apple green and beautiful colorful markings on undersides.

As I tried for a picture of its open wings, it took off and drifted into the breeze and was gone out of site.  Hopefully it will return again.

Today, Sunday, May 20, 2012 we celebrate "Ascension Sunday" celebrating the day CHRIST ascended up to Heaven to be with HIS FATHER. (Which was actually last Thursday).

"And when HE had spoken these things, while they beheld, HE was taken up; and a cloud received HIM out of their sight.  And while they looked stedfastly toward Heaven as HE went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;  Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into Heaven?  this same JESUS, which is taken up from you into Heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen HIM go into Heaven."

Acts 1:9-11
