Nodding Ladies' Tresses (Siranthes cernua)
This is a new find for me and it is in my yard! It is a member of the orchid family and blooms from July - December. It is very similar to the Spring Ladies' Tresses, which are a little larger and blooms placed in different whorled fashion.
Nodding Tresses grow about 12 - 14 inches tall on a long stem with no leaves, once it begins to bloom. It's tiny white flowers are bell shaped and droop. The species name is from Latin word "cernua", meaning "drooping".
"Every word of GOD is pure; HE is a shield unto them that put their trust in HIM".
