This is one of the most colorful flowers in Texas and is found in fields and roadsides in large quantities. It is also called Firewheel or Blanket Flower because of its "firey" beautiful colors.
Native Americans used the roots for intestinal problems. They also chewed the powdered roots for skin disorders and made a wash for sore eyes. Some tribes believed this flower brought good luck.
