The Wild Texas Sunflower

I got this plant on a trip to Austin this year and it was only about 6" tall. Now it is thriving in the heat and is about 6 ft. tall and full of beautiful blooms.

Sunflowers are used for many purposes and the seeds are quite tasty as a healthy snack.

Grow sunflowers in your garden and save the dried seed heads to feed the birds in winter when there is a shortage of food for them.
