From My Garden

During the scorching Texas heat there is not much that survives, but here is a plant that does---the Lantana. It comes in a variety of colors and as you can see, butterflies can't resist it.

This is the beautiful Gulf Fritilliary Butterfly. They begin to feed in late summer as they prepare for fall and their migration to the southern islands for winter. You can identify them by the "eye" spot on the lower wing, white with black spot that is similar to an eye. They are a member of the Longwing Butterfly family.
