Yikes!!!

As I plundered through the woods I came upon this guy, the male Black Widow. The male is much smaller than the female and has much longer legs.

This one was very small, about 1/4" in length with very long legs. The Black Widow is poisonous if it bites you, but rarely is fatal, just very painful as are other spider bites. I just stay clear of ALL of them.

The Black Widow gets its name from the fact that after mating, the female eats her mate. Sometimes Mother Nature's creatures are quite cruel and strange.
