Imperial Moth

This magnificent moth is yellow with pinkish markings. This one is the male of the species. The female is more yellow.
Imperials can grow up to 7 inches across and are quite showy. These moths are in the family of Giant Silkworm Moths . In Asia they are grown for their production of silk from its caterpillars. This one that is native to North America does not produce the caterpillars that make silk. This species is declining in North American and slowly disappearing.
"She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple."
Proverbs 31:22
