Wolly Ironweed

Member of Aster Family
Blooms: June - September
I am always happy to find this pretty plant because it usually means fall isn't too far away. It is an upright, slender plant growing about 3 ft. tall and having 20 - 60 flower heads per stem.
They are a beautiful magenta color and are loved by butterflies and insects for their abundance of nectar and pollen.
Native American has many uses for this plant. They believed the roots boiled would be a good blood purifier. It was also used to reduce fevers and to treat snakebite. Some tribes used its teas as an aphrodisiac.

"Draw nigh to GOD, and HE will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded."
James 4:8
