Wild Spiderlily

Member of Amaryllis Family
Blooms: March - May

I believe the white wildflowers are some of the most beautiful. This one is spectacular!! Click on the picture and notice the raindrops on its face.

These plants were once endangered, but are making a come back. They grow only in very wet areas, marshes and bottomlands, usually standing in water. They can grow up to 40" tall and flowers can be 7" across.

The Spiderlily gets it's name from the Greek word kallos , meaning beautiful, which certainly does apply.

"For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: HE will beautify the meek with salvation."
Psalm 149:4
