Lyre-Leaf Sage

Member of Mint Family
Blooms: April - June
This plant covers large areas , especially in really sunny places. It loves sandy soils and is found throughout most of Texas
The distinctive, lyre-shaped leaves of this plant resemble the ancient Greek stringed instrument, they are dark green with purple edges. They were used by Indians to brew a tea as a laxative and for colds, coughs and for nervousness. It was also mixed with honey and taken as a syrup for asthma. It is a beautiful pale lavender color.

The LORD was ready to save me: therefore we will sing my songs to the stringed instruments all the days of my life in the house of the LORD."
Isaiah 38:20
