This plant is found growing in moist or wet areas along edges of marshes and ponds.

It grows in large quantities and often grow in water. This one was in the edge of a pond. It often grows with it's stems and branches floating in the water. The fruit of this plant is armed with a backward-projecting barb and when mature, becomes easily attached to clothing or the fur of animals. Other common names are "wild-goldenglow" and "Bur - Marigold".
