Prairie Plantain

Member of Sunflower Family
Blooms: April - June
This plant grows in various types of soil in prairies, abandoned fields, pastures, woodland openings and along the edges of the woods.
Prairie Plantain blooms abundantly in the springs, but will appear again sporadically in early fall if there is sufficient rainfall. A smiliar species of this plant was used by the Cherokee Indians as a poultice for cuts, bruises, tumors and infections.
