Member of Sunflower Family
Blooms: March - November
This plant thrives in dry gravelly or rocky soils in open areas, on hillsides or slopes, in open brushland or cedar woodlands.
This plant has three growth forms: in early spring the flowers occur on long, leafless stalks with lobed leaves all crowded at the base. Later the plant becomes much-branched, the lower leaves wither away and the new leaves which are unlobed, appear along upper branches. By fall, often the branches have fallen over, giving the plant a sprawling or trailing appearance, with the leaves small and very narrow.
