This is not a wildflower, but is one of my favorites. I can remember when I was a little girl, over 50 years ago, my Aunt in Mississippi had this growing on her fence around her yard.
It comes up from seeds early springs and blooms until late fall. Beautiful, delicate foiliage and bright red blooms. This vine will climb and cover everything if you don't corral it. It can have hundreds of blooms each day. They open early and close up about mid day. It really attracts the hummingbirds.
