Io Moth

This moth has a strange name "io" moth?? Still is very pretty. These range from 2 - 3 1/4". They have yellow hindwings, each one having an "eye spot". When at rest the wings are closed up but in threat of predators they will expose the eye spots to ward off threats to them.
These can be found in gardens, deciduous forests and mesquite scrub.  They  are found throughout the U.S.  The caterpillars of this moth have stinging spines which are very painful.

"Bless the LORD, all HIS works in all places of HIS dominion: bless the LORD, O my soul"
Psalm103:22
