Texas Bluebonnet (Lupinus texensis)

It's Bluebonnet season in the Hill Country again. Beautiful fields of bright blue and a heavy sweet fragrance in the air at the end of the day.

Native Americans called them Buffalo Clover. Later the name Bluebonnet came from the shape of each flower, resembling the bonnets that the pioneer women wore.
Many tourists travel to the Hill Country in the springtime to take pictures of these spectacular flowers.

In 1901 legislation was passed to make the Bluebonnet the state flower of Texas.  They are a member of the Lupine family or Bean family.

"This is the day the LORD hath made, let us Rejoice and be glad in it".
Psalm 118:24
