Moth Mullein (Verbascum blattaria)

Moth Mullein has just started to bloom here and is very pretty. It grows about 3 ft. tall and flowers are either white or yellow.  They are a member of the Figwort family and usually bloom from April through November. Blooms open at evening and remain open all night, withering by mid day. As night bloomers they attract night moths. It also has the ability to repel cockroaches.

These remind of old fashioned Hollyhocks, though much smaller.  These do well in gardens along with Four 'O Clocks for late evening blooms.

"For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the LORD so cometh as a thief in the night."
1 Thessalonians 5:2  KJV
