Variegated Fritillary Butterfly



This Fritillary is a different color from the other species which are mostly orange and silver.
The Variegated flies with shallow wingbeats.  They like open areas, roadsides, meadows and desert scrub. They feed on a wide variety of flowers, this one feeding on Lantana.

Variegated Fritillary's stay in the southern part of North American most of the summer before migrating south for winter.
