Funereal Dusky Wing Skipper Butterfly

This tiny Skipper is only 1 1/4" across and shades of rust, black and brown. This particular species of skipper always has its wings open when perched while the others do not. Some even have tiny fine fringe around their hindwings.

The Dusky Wing is usually found in open sunny areas. They seem to be attracted to the white flowers such as dogbane, white clover and this one on the beautiful white dewberry blossom.

"Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of THY wings." Psalm 17:8
