Field Pansy

As springs arrives these tiny flowers pop up everywhere among the Bluets and Spring Beauties.
The Field Pansy is a member of the Violet family and is often found scattered over a large area. They bloom from Februrary thru April.
This plant was used by Native Americans for medicinal purposes. Its roots, when crushed, have the strong fragrance of wintergreen.
Other common names are Johnny-Jump-Up, Heartsease and Cupid's Delight.
"It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the fields."
Genesis 3:18
