Yellow Yarrow

Member of Aster Family

Blooms: April -into fall

The Yarrows are very pretty. The most common is the White Yarrow, commonly called Milfoil. They often are found along roadsides and in open, sunny places. Their leaves are very fine and lacey. The blooms are very pretty and are a major food source for Black Swallowtail Butterflies. Their larvae feed on the leaves of the plant. They are loved by other butterflies also, so it's a great plant for your garden. They do best if planted in fall.

At Zilker Park Gardens in Austin, Texas, they grew red ones and burgundy colored. The "wild" varieties are mostly white.
