Maryland Meadow-Beauty

Member of Melastoma Family

Blooms: May - September

This plant is a very pale pink color, very delicate and beautiful. We found it growing in a ditch along the woodline. It grows in wet or moist rich, sandy soils along ditches, bogs, ponds and marshes. Usually they will be in colonies.
The Meadow-Beauty is somewhat similar to the Evening Primrose, but the fruit is quite distinctive. The small capsules are shaped much like a miniature, long necked urn or pitcher, with four bristlelike lobes at the rim. Click for closer look and see how beautiful it is.
"but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in GOD's sight is very precious."

I Peter 3:4
