Bat Flower

This is a new one on me. A friend brought it to me at the office and asked if I had ever seen one before. It is not a wildflower, but is so beautiful and unique I just had to share it.
If you click on the picture, you can see that the bloom, about 1" acrosss, looks like the head of a bat, even little eyes. Isn't it beautiful and so weird?
I did a little research on this one and found that it is an exotic native to the jungles of Southeast Asia. Some experts say it is related to the Orchid. It is hard to grow in some areas as it needs it's native habitat, but can be grown in planters and brought inside in winter. Very pretty!!!
