Small Spleenwort

Member of Asplenium Family
Early spring to frost.
This little fern is often found in damp, dark places. Often growing on road banks up under old tree roots and other plants in very shaded areas. It's fronds are always upright, 4 - 10 inches in height and very slender.
It is a close relative to the Ebony Spleenwort, which can grow from 8 - 20 inches in height. I LOVE ferns!
