Member of Mint Family
Blooms: April - June
This plant grows in various soils in meadows, fields, gardens and along woodland edges.
Self-Heal is visited by bumblebees and especially by the Clouded Sulphur Butterfly, which aids in fertilization. Another name for this plant is "Heal-All", as the names imply, the plant has many medicinal purposes. Indians used an infusion for bathing bruises and burns, and to heal cuts. It was often used to flavor other medicines.
"Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with loving kindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's."
Psalm 103: 3-5
