I found a large patch of these growing in a road ditch along a country road today. They were about 3 ft. tall and had leaves like a water iris, very long and slender. I don't know if they are a wildflower or not, but no houses nearby, so where did they come from? Very beautiful colors, pink to deep magenta.
My Mother said they looked like Jacob's Ladder, a small version of the gladiola, but I'm not sure.
Whatever they are, very beautiful. I will keep searching until I find the name.
Evidently they have delicious nectar, look to far left at the larger flower and see the big ants up inside the bloom.
